If the line A-B is oriented in a north-south direction, and the elevations of the points are: A = 90 m B = 95 m C = 80 m what is the value of the maximum slope angle (i.e. the dip)? what is the compass direction of the maximum slope downwards? What is the elevation of a point located 50 m due north of point C?

Solution

If we drive A-B is oriented in a north-south direction the value of maximum slope angle is 30%

The compass direction of the maximum slope downwards is 25%

The elevation of a point located 50m due north of point is 60%

These can be observed through a right angled triangle with given dimensions and on observing angle in this triangle

 If the line A-B is oriented in a north-south direction, and the elevations of the points are: A = 90 m B = 95 m C = 80 m what is the value of the maximum slope
