A PV generator has 10 modules connected in series to form one string. Each PV module has 50 W MPP power (20 V MPP voltage). What is the generator\'s power at MPP?

Solution

50 watt MPP POWER ( 20 V MPP VOLTAGE )

NOW 10 MODULES IN SERIES.

VOLTAGE IN SERIES MEANS , SUMATION OF ALL VOLTAGE .

20 + 20 + 20 + ............10 TIMES =    20 * 10 = 200 VOLT.

NOW CURRENT OF EACH MODULE IS ,

P= V * I

I = P / V =   50 / 20   = 5/2 = 2.5 Amp

But in series connection of PV modules , Current remains same for whole network.

Total voltage = 200 Volt ( mpp)

Total Current = 2.5   amp ( mpp)

Power ( mpp) =   200 * 2.5   = 500 Watt ( mpp)
