Approximate Molecular weight of Nucleic Acids is calculated using a formula:

M.W. of dsDNA = (Number of nucleotides x 607.4) + 157.9

= (498 million x 607.4) +157.9

(NOTE 249 million x 2 because they are base pairs = 498 million nucleotides)

= 302485.2 x 106 +157.9

= 3 x 1011
