Solution
The term Natural selection is defined as process of survival and reproduction of individuals because of the various differences in phenotype. This is a very important concept in terms of evolution which is basically the change in heritable traits of a population over time. This allows the species to evolve and live for a long time
The natural selection leads to genetic variation which is basically present in a population in order to remove the various variants which usually fail to produce an offspring in a particular situation and at the same time they spread those variants that are particularly good at producing offspring. As a result, a population with no genetic variation cannot evolve.
As far as cheetahs are concerned they have famously low levels of genetic variation. The main reason for this is population bottleneck which cheetahs experienced around 10,000 years ago, that helped in avoiding extinction at the end of the last ice age. This has helped them to reproduce further.
In order for the cheetahs to evolve, the female cheetahs usually bear single litters with multiple fathers. On the other hand, the fathers are rarely near neighbors. The wide variety of females prefer to mate with individuals from far-flung regions. This means that the various cubs\' fathers are only distantly related to one another. This leads to an evolution due to differences between the father and mother.
The main conclusion is that the mating habits ofthe female cheetahs help us in getting genetic information from lots of different fathers into the next generation.Due to different fathers the species evolves and moves ahead.
