polymearse chain reaction PCR ,What is it used for and why is it so important?
Solution
Polymearse chain reaction (PCR) is an analytical technique used in molecular biology to amplify the DNA and produce more number of the identical copies. The number of copies of DNA produce may vary from thousands to the millions depending on the number of cycles. It involves the heat resistance enzyme known as Taq poymerase.
This technique ivolves four major steps such as :
1) Denaturation: 90 deg for 30 sec
2) Annealing : 50 deg for 30 sec
3) Elogation or Extension : 72 deg for 1 min
4) PCR cycling
It is important in modern day research for
1) Identification of the Genetic disease
2) Identification of the functional genes in DNA
3) Identification of criminals from the blood samples
