1. clearly and convincingly explain why recessive lethal mutations do not always cause the death of an individual and why they continue in the genetic makeup of individuals and not disappear after a period of time.
2.
In your own words explain what is meant by wild type. Include frequency in your explanation and use human blood type genotypes to demonstrate your knowledge of this material.
Solution
In recessive lethal mutation, the lethality is shown only in homozygous state. In heterozygous state the individuals are normal. The individual heterozygous for the mutation will survive and hence it will continue in the genetic makeup of the individual. They accumulate in the genome of the individual.
Wild type is the gene that is present in individuals in natural conditions. Dominant allele will express its dominant phenotype even when one copy of dominant allele is present.
