which organs of the vestibular apparatus would be activated
which organs of the vestibular apparatus would be activated by movements of the ship at sea? what role does vision play in vertigo caused by this movement? Explain.
Solution
Organs involved with vestibular apparatus are horizontal, anterior and posterior semi circular canals and the otolithic organs saccule and utricle. When we are traveling in a ship the conflict between eyes and ears causes the nausea and vomiting. When the vestibular organs send a message to the brain about the motion of the body but eyes will send the message as everything is still and this conflict induces the area called prostema in brain and leads to vomiting.
And the improper functioning of the vestibular system or the non co-ordination of the body parts leads to the abnormal perception of motion called vertigo.
