2022 You are testing H0 0 against Ha 0 based on an SRS of 6
(20.22) You are testing H0: = 0 against Ha: 0 based on an SRS of 6 observations from a Normal population. What values of the t statistic are statistically significant at the = 0.001 level?
Solution
Here we have n=6 and = 0.001
Degree of freedom is df=n-1=6-1=5
Alternative hypothesis suggest that test is two tailed. So critical values of t are -6.8688 and 6.8688. When t -statistic value is less than -6.8688 or greater than 6.8688 we reject the null hypothesis. That is all the value of t-statistics which are less than -6.8688 or greater than 6.8688 , are statistical significant.
