PLEASE be specific enough in your procedure so I can follow it clearly! And please don\'t make this very expensive. Most I could spend is $20. Thank you so much.
Hello, I\'m a high school student. I\'m in the IB program and for our biology class, we have to conduct our own lab experiment(IB Bio LA). It cannot be replicated from any other labs that have been conducted. I was wondering if anyone could anyone help me come up with a lab Icould conduct and How Icould conduct it? It can be anything from plants or fruit or physiology(but can\'t experiment on animals/humans and Bare in mind I\'m a high school student so I can\'t get any fancy lab equipment, I can get basic things that are in our high school chem/bio class). It must consist of quantiative data and the lab report has to be 6-12 pages so I\'d love to do something that I could anaylze the data and fully talk about. This is part of the rubric that the lab should follow: The report includes sufficient relevant quantitative and qualitative raw data that could support a detailed and valid conclusion to the research question. Appropriate and sufficient data processing is carried out with the accuracy required to enable a conclusion to the research question to be drawn that is fully consistent with the experimental data. The report shows evidence of full and appropriate consideration of the impact of measurement uncertainty on the analysis The processed data is correctly interpreted so that a completely valid and detailed conclusion to the research question can be deduced The topic of the investigation is identified and a relevant and fully focused research question is clearly described The background information provided for the investigation is entirely appropriate and relevant and enhances the understanding of the context of the investigation The methodology of the investigation is highly appropriate to address the research question because it takes into consideration all, or nearly a of the significant factors that may influence the relevance, reliability and sufficiency of the collected data. The report shows evidence of full awareness of the significant safety, ethical or environmental issues that are relevant to the methodology of the investigation.Solution
One good lab could be conducted on how plant growth is affected by light.
you can setup the experiment by taking same type of plants in different pots which are given same conditions like soil, water and manure and only differ in the light intensities and types of light.
we can take 3 plants and measure first the effect of varying light intensities : high, medium and low
then we can take same 3 plants and test their growth under blue, red and yellow light.
you can measure the growth in form of increase in stem length or observe the coloration of leaves.
you can collect the data and plot it on a graph taking plant growth as the dependent variable and light intensity and types of light as independent variables.
you can also setup a plant as a control which is not subjected to any different intensities or lights.
