Write a quadratic equation having the given numbers as solut
Write a quadratic equation having the given numbers as solutions. squareroot of21, - squareroot of21 The equation is x^2 - = 0.
Solution
The quadratic equation x2 - a2 = 0 has the solutions x = a2 i.e. x = ± a. Here, a = 21 or, - 21. Therefore, the required equation is x2 - ( ± 21)2 or, x2 - 21 = 0.
Alternatively, x = a and x = -a are the roots of the equation ( x -a)[ x - ( -a)] = 0 or, ( x -a)( x + a) = 0 or, x2 - a2 = 0 . Here a = ± 21, so the required equation is x2 - ( ± 212 = 0 or, x2 - 21 = 0
