Can someone please help me with my ICD 10 II assignment...

A 47-year-old obese male was admitted with chest pain and difficulty swallowing, resulting in regurgitation. The patient has a history of coronary artery disease (CAD), but tests ruled out angina. Based on negative test results and the patient’s history, it was established that the chest pain was probably related to a heavy meal.

Final diagnoses: (1) Probable gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), (2) CAD, (3) Obesity

Assign the appropriate codes.

Solution

It would be (1) Probable GERD-Gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Reason-

-Angina has been ruled out as cause of chest pain after taking into consideration of history of CAD.

-Since patient is having difficulty swallowing and results in regurgitation.

-Obesity is not the sole reason in such cases always.

-Only best probabalistics cause is GERD
