Which type of health insurance plan would you choose the PPO
Which type of health insurance plan would you choose the PPO plan or the HMO plan? Why would you make this choice? What things are important to you when selecting a health insurance plan (i.e. monthly payroll deduction, co-payments, deductibles, services covered, etc.)? Please give specific reasons for your selection.
Solution
PPO plans are more flexible as we can see doctors from their wide network of physicians and hospitals. While HMO plan requires me to first find a primary health care doctor then follow through the process of referrals etc.
In some incidents HMO can be very time consuming and required referrals to different departments can cost valuable time, In some diseases primary care physician might not have all the knowledge about the disease and it will be very time consuming to take refferals to various departments, In some chronic conditions this can be life threatening
The most important thing while selecting insurance plan is to check for services covered, There are numerous clauses where treatment can be denied to patients. It is very important to check what are the services covered. This will save you and your family from future financial disaster
Health care in US is costing more than ever, It is literally impossible for even rich families to pay hospital bills, Simple treatments are costing upwards of 100,000 Dollars. So it is very important to have medical insurance that provides hassle free healthcare for family. So PPO plans seems to be the right answer.
