Test results on a single stage single suction centrifugal flow type pump operating at 375 rpm designed to deliver 2.4 m^3/min of water are given in curve form as follows: On the same sheet, draw the performance curves (H_m-Q, n_0-Q and P-Q), if the liquid pumped has a specific gravity of 0.9 and draw the same curves for water. Give a brief discussion of your reason for each curve.

Solution

The first two diagrams

The efficiency increasse with the decreasse of the higth, that is because of the lost that a lot of higth may causes in the pump,

The diagrams of preassure, the preassure is in kPa:

the liquid with the specific gravity of 0.9 has less preassure of the water because the equation of preassure is P=higth x density x gravity, so with more specific gravity more preassure you will have, the curves show a similar move becasue only the specific gravity changes from one to other.

good luck :)
