Please help- This is a Self-Esteem Study: Depressive symptomatology -.600 Family Cohesion .255 a. Describe the Pearson correlation between self-esteem and depressive symptomatology (i.e., strength & direction. b. Given this finding, if a client had higher levels of depressive symptoms, what level of self-esteem would we expect? c. Describe how family cohesion and self-esteem associated?
Solution
(a)
Since correlation coefficient between Self Esteeem and Depressive symtomatology is negative so relationship between these variables are negative. Since amount of correlation coefficient between the variables is 0.6 so it shows a moderate relationship between the variables.
Hence, relationship between the variables are negative and moderate.
(b)
Since relationship between the variables is negative, so if a client had higher levels of depressive symptoms, level of esteem decreases.
(c)
Since correlation coefficient between Self Esteeem and family cohesion is positive so relationship between these variables are positive. Since amount of correlation coefficient between the variables is 0.255 so it shows a weak relationship between the variables.
Hence, relationship between the variables are positive and weak.
