I want to know the technique of finding the answer for the differential equation (2xy+y^3)dx+(x^2+3xy^2-2y)dy=0. I know how to solve for it by hand but I want to know the way to check my answer for other problems. I know you have to go to deSolve on your Ti-89 but how do you input the equation above?

Solution

Well I\'m not sure how to check this on a calculator but for any type equation (differential equations included) if you want to check your work simply plug it back into the original problem. For exact equations like this just take the partial derivatives and they should match up with your original.
