Explain how natural selection factors into the HardyWeinberg
Explain how natural selection factors into the Hardy-Weinberg Theorem?
Solution
The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium remains constant in the absence of disturbing factors. The factors like forces, mutations, natural selection, nonrandom mating, genetic drift, and gene flow disturb the hardy weinberg equilibrium. Mutations disturb the equilibrium of allele frequencies as they introduce new alleles into a population. The process of natural selection cause changes in gene frequencies thereby disturbing the hardy weinberg equilibrium. Nonrandom will also cause the same change. The changed alleles may be a gain or loss to the organism and effect the reproductive efficiency.
