Two diodes having the characteristics shown in the figure ar

Two diodes having the characteristics shown in the figure are connected in series. The total reverse voltage is 2000V. Find: The reverse voltage for each diode The resistance value connected in parallel with diode to limit reverse voltage on either diode to 1100V Power lost in the voltage-sharing resistors.

Solution

(2)

(a) From Graph, We get that each diode has Reverse voltage of 1000v each

(b)case 1:resistor connected across diode 1

1000-Vrx+1000=1100

Vrx=900

900=I1*r1

from graph I1=1.4mA

r1=900/1.4m

r1=642.857Kohm

case 2:resistor coonected across diode 2

900=I2*r2

from graph I2=1.9mA

r2=900/1.9m

r2=473.684Kohm

(c)case1: resistor across diode 1

p1=I1^2*r1=1.26W

case2: resistor across diode 2

p2=I2^2*r2=1.71W

 Two diodes having the characteristics shown in the figure are connected in series. The total reverse voltage is 2000V. Find: The reverse voltage for each diode
