Pesticide and fertilizers are source of phosphate and nitrate pollution in water bodies.Waste treatment plant effluent contain nutrient that stimulates excessive plant and algal growth in freshwater bodies, run off from agricultural. Polyform term of phosphate used in for treating boiler water and in detergent.

Phosphate and nitrate is required for plant growth when these nutrient become excess it leads to algal bloom, food supply and decrease in diversity.there will be increase in dead plant which will be decomposed by bacteria that will

consume oxygen releasing phosphate.. In extreme condition when nitrogen and phosphate concentration increases all oxygen is consumed by bacteria thus creating imbalance.

Eutrophication in easturies ,coastal area is due to nitrate and phosphate pollution. though such pollution has large impact on freshwater as these water is used for drinking purpose. it has large impact on marine ecosystem as seen in gulf of Mexico

Ammonia and organic nitrogen enters through sewage into water bodies they also cause same algal bloom and diversity imbalance.Nitrate can also be formed due to the oxidation of ammonia,nitrite and organic nitrogen compound.
