A rocket is fired vertically and ascends upward with constant acceleration a = 100 m/s2 for 1.0 min. At that point, the rocket engine shuts off and the rocket continues upward under the influence of gravity. Find the maximum altitude acquired by the rocket and the total time elapsed from the take-off until the rocket returns to Earth. Ignore air resistance.
Solution
s = ut +0.5 at^2
where s is the distance t is the time u is the intial velocity and t is the time
s = 0.5 * 100 * 60 *60
s= 36000 m
tan 45 = P/B
1 = P/36000
P =36000m
Rocket will racquire a maximum altitude of 36000 m.
