From Plant Physiology Lab:
10. Which Sucrose Treatment resulted in approxiamtely 50% plasmolysis in Elodea, and which in onion? What does this say about the likely cell sap concentration of each, and does this make senes in terms of the fucntion of the tissue and/or its growth environment?
For the experiment the sucrose treamtment for each (in molal):
Elodea: 0.5 M
Onion: 0.4 M
I cannot answer the part about cell sap concentration and could use some help please!
Solution
Cell sap concentration of Elodea will be higher than the cell sap concentration of onion. Since Elodea grows in fresh water, plasmolysis makes the elodea cells flaccid.
