How does the mass of the cortical bone differ from the mass
How does the mass of the cortical bone differ from the mass of the cancellous bone (how many times, magnitude)?
Solution
Cortical bone contains several columns that are called Osteon. Cortical bones also contain haversian canal and volkmann\'s canal. Cortical bone constitute about 80% of the total mass of the bone.
Cancellous bone contains several pores and constitutes the osteoblasts. Cancellous bone constitutes about 20% of the total mass of the bone.
So, from this point of view, mass of cortical bone have 4 times the mass of cancellous bone.
