2. What are G cells, how are they triggered, and what do they do?
Solution
G cells are the gastrin producing cells present in stomach , pancreas and duodenum. G cells gets stimulated by the gastrin releasing peptide and aminoacids in the stomach. Also the hormone bomesin stimulates G cells to produce gastrin
. G cells helps in the digestion by producing gastrin and also increases the production of hydrochloric acid from parietal cells to stomach. This is done by triggering enterochromaffin cells to produce more histamine.
