Discuss the differences that exist in female and male mating
Discuss the differences that exist in female and male mating strategies and the conflict(s) that (may) result from those differences. Are there any similarities that surprised you?
Solution
The various dimensions of traits in a prospective mate that clearly distinguish what appear to be average differences in male and female mate selection preferences. These traits of sexual selection are mainly breeding effort and passage of genes to next generation. The male mating selection is differ from female mating system according to Triver\'s theory of relative parental investment and the female always have capability of passing highest quality of genes to the next generation. Female mate selection or mating strategy is mainly depending on the male they choose to avoid poor genes to pass their generation as a result higher fitness of the offspring (for example, maternal mitochondrial genes to offspring). Sometimes, the sexual female mating strategy is leading to conflicts between the either species within a same population result in expulsion of male or female with lower fitness. According to Triver’s theory, male selection for sexual mating is to pass majority of genes to the next generation by fertilizing majority of females as many as possible. The major similarity is competing for females by the male in case of male mating stragtegies either for short-term or long term purpose of mating & conflicts can be observed for mating & resources in both mating systems
