Solution

Somatomedins are growth hormones that are produced in the liver in response to the growth hormone somatotropin and mediate the effect of somatotropin. They have a insulin-like action and influence cell division by promoting RNA and DNA synthesis. Somatomedins also stimulate the production of somatostatin which is also called as the growth hormone-inhibiting hormone (GHIH).

So to answer your question, somatomedins are the mediator of the growth hormone action.
