Which types of reactions can enzymes help: endergonic or exergonic? Why can’t they increase speed of the other?

Enzymes help in lowering the activation energy i.e. the energy required to start any reaction to occur.

Thus, without enzymes, any reaction may take some more time in comparison to the with enzyme.

Since, Exergonic reaction are those which releases energy after there occurance while energy is required for the start of the Endergonic reaction.

Thus, enzymes helps in Endergonic reaction not in Exergonic reaction because Exergonic reactions are spontaneous in nature. They don\'t anything to start the reaction. While Endergonic reaction required external activation energy adn thus Enzymes can help Endergonic reaction by lowering the activation energy.
