A sequare region is changed into a rectangular one by making it 2 feet wider and twice as long. If the area of the rectangular region is three times larger than the area of the original square region, what was the length of a side of the sequre before it was changed?
Solution
Side of square = a
width of rectangle = 2 feet
Length = 2a
Area of reactangular region = 3* Area pof square
2a*2 = a2
4a = a2
a = 4
the length of a side of the sequre before it was changed = 4 feet
