A company is considering a new way to assemble its golf cart

A company is considering a new way to assemble its golf carts. The present method requires 42.3 minutes, on the average, to assemble a cart. The mean assembly time for a random sample of 24 carts, using a new method of assembling was 40.6 minutes with a standard deviation of 2.7 minutes. Using the .10 level of significance, can we conclude that there is evidence that the assemply time using the new method is faster?

Solution

as given the mean = 42.3

therefore H0: = 42.3
and the new method average = 40.6

therefore Ha: < 42.3

now we will get the critical t value from the t table for one tailed 10 level test.
critical value = 1.319460

this hows that the test exceeded the critical value and now we can reject the H0.

hence new system is good and faster..
