Solution
Both rice and potatoes are rich in complex carbohydrates. IF you observe closely potatoes possess more amount of carbohydrates per 100g serving but one has to take the Glycemic index into account. GI is a measure which says about how fast does the sugars in a particular food are broken down and enter into blood circulation and thus elevating blood sugar levels which in the long run might lead to numerous health issues. Comparatively potatoes especially fried ones have high GI than rice. Apart from them, the total fat especially saturated fat which is responsible for the elevated LDL or bad cholesterol content is high in potatoes than in rice. sodium and potassium and dietary fiber are in higher quantities in potatoes than in rice. If one wants to reduce their fat intake and have only carbohydrates rice is a better choice but considering rich nutrient and calorie packed food then potatoes are a better choice.
