5 AFind the slope of the line through the points 6 2 and 9 2
5) A)Find the slope of the line through the points (6, -2) and (9, 2).
B)Write in point-slope form the equation of the line through the two points given in step a.
C) Convert the equation that you wrote in step b to slope-intercept form.
D) Convert the equation that you wrote in step b to standard form, where A, B, and C are integers and A > 0.
Solution
(6, -2) and (9, 2)
a) slope , m = ( 2-(-2) )/(9 -6) = 4/3
b)Point slope form : y -y1 = m(x-x1)
y -2 = (4/3)(x-9)
c) y -2 = 4x/3 - 12
y = 4x/3 -10 ( slopeinterecpt form)
d) Standard form :Ax +By = C
y -2 = (4/3)(x-9)
3y -6 = 4x -36
4x -3y = 30
