Your company is designing a desktop-sized proton accelerator, using a 500 MN/C superconducting magnet to hold the protons in a circular path. Estimate the maximum kinetic energy that your accelerator can give protons. Express the answer in the conventional particle physics unit of electron volts where 1eV = 1.6*10^-19 J.
Solution
first remember that the bold B and normal B are different so in your KE equation you need to multiply by the speed of light sqaured. second this is one of those dumb problems where you have to assume a distance I just solved back from the answer given in prob viewer and got a distance of .25m. Hope this helps
