A 032 percent C hyprotectend plancarbon steel is slowly cool

A 0.32 percent C hyprotectend plan-carbon steel is slowly cooled from 950 degree C to a temperature just slightly below 723 degree C. Calculate the weight percent ferrite in the steel. Calculate the weight percent ferrite and weight percent cutectoid cementite in the steel.

(a) Weight percent of Proeutectoid ferrite = (0.8-0.32)/(0.8-0.02) = 0.615 = 61.5%

(b) Weight percent of eutectoid cementite = (0.32 - 0.02)/(6.67-0.02)*100% = 4.5%

Weight percent of eutectoid ferrite = 100% - 61.5% - 4.5% = 34%
