explain how a small powerdrill like the picture is assembled
explain how a small powerdrill like the picture is assembled, it has an 1,3 Ah battery, one motor, gear.
Solution
The following are the parts of a small power drill in an order from the tip of the drill bit to the screws at the bottom of the handle.
1. Drill bit
2. Drill Chuck
3. Gear
4. Bearings
5. housing(Outer visible part)
6. Motor (DC)
7. fan or Heat sink
8. Dust cover
9. Battery
11. Switch
12. Screws
We are going to study by dividing it into three parts
1. Transmissioin (between chuck and DC motor):
The transmission is connected to motor, battery and heat sink. Trasmission consists of gears, ball bearings and a cutoff(in case of excessive heating). The front part consists of spring mechanism and breaking mechanismfollowed by gears.
2. Motor
The back portion consists of motor. Series wound universal motors are generally used due to its high torque. A typicalmotor consists of two permanent magnets with current flowing \'c\' so that the torque is produced by the magnetic feild. The current travels from the battery through the brushers and commutator.
3. Battery
Li-ion battery is used which is placed in the handle along with a switch.
The whole arrangement is placed from drill bit to the chuck for adjusting torque to the transmission and motor which is powered by a battery in a compact design for simple and elagant use..
