His wife complains that he is more interested in work than he is in her and the children. Martin has trouble sleeping, is often irritated by small inconveniences, wishes he spent more time with his family, and has been diagnosed as having a stomach ulcer.

Based on your reading in chapter 1, specifically the definition of abnormality, write a brief essay. Address the following considerations. Does Martin have a psychiatric disorder, is he abnormal, does he need treatment? If you do not find him to be abnormal, at what point would you expect him to become so. Martin may not have a psychiatric disorder. His extreemely stressful worklife has caused health issues like stomach ulcer, and other things like irritability. He does not need treatment from a psychatrist but help and support from his family.

He would be considered abnormal, when he does not wish spend time with his family. My humble opinion.
