In your experience and opinion, are central or peripheral mechanisms the most likely explanation for the cause of muscle fatigue?
Solution
The peripheral muscle fatigue is caused by scarcity of substances required for muscle contraction and/or accumulation of lactic acid. Since the repeated fatigue is caused by lowered arousal of muscles as a whole despite their normal local contraction; the central mechanisms are more likely causative agent of the fatigue. This is result of inhibition by receptors of fatigued muscles.
