Solution

Ear evolution from the fishes to the mammals is a fairly fascinating process. In the fishes vibrations move through water to the body tissue so elaborate ears are not really required in the fishes but in terrestrial mammals it is required so ears evolved accordingly.

The middle mammalian ear contains three ossicles which are responsible for transfer of vibrations of the eardrum in the waves in the fluid and in the inner ear membranes.
