An organizational researcher was interested in whether individuals working in different sectors of a company differed in their attitudes toward the company.
 The results
for the three people surveyed in engineering were: 10, 12, and 11.
In marketing, it was 6, 6, and 8.
For the three in accounting it was 7,4,and 4.
and for the three in production it was 14,16, and 13 (higher numbers indicating more positive attitudes).
Was there a signifigant difference in attitudee among employees? figure the effect size and explain your answer to someone who is unfamilar with analysis of variance.
Solution
The result of ANOVA isgiven below
as the p value of F statistic is greater than 0.05, thus we can say that null hypotheis is accepted at 55 level of significance. in other words it can be said that mean of all four groups are statistically equal to each other.
effect size (eta square) = sum of square due to tertments / total sum of square
now total sum of square = residual sum of square + tretment sum of square
= 165.83+ 10.42
= 176.25
now effect size (eta square) = 10.42 / 176.25
= 0.059121
From the effect size statistic it can be said that independent variables moderately influence the dependent variable.
| df | sum of square | mean sum of square | F value | P value of F | |
| treatments | 1 | 10.42 | 10.42 | 0.628 | 0.446 |
| residual | 10 | 165.83 | 16.58 |
