Drug is an addiction. Two types of people are there who get it first time; i. people who are willing to take it, ii. people who are forced to take it. If they survive and get addicted then, it becomes a necessary as well as inelastic goods for them. Countries like U.S is quite developed, private sector has blossomed more than government sector. This increases the work pressure of daily life. Bulk people who are failed among them become frustated and take drugs. Even people who are failed to reach their aim earlier also take this out of frustation. Second kind of people get addicted to it. Initially addiction of wealth makes them prone to taste every entertainment(taking drugs, consuming alchohol, buying lucrative ornaments, bikes, cars, mobiles, maintaining lavish life etc). Beyond a certain point they loss control and take it more and more. Even many compell their friend to consume that too.

It definitely have an impact on economy and undoubtedly it is bad. Getting addicted towards consuming drug is not surely good. It reduces productivity, have bad impacts on health, takes huge cost of treatment, lead them towards crimes like stealing, murdering etc. Moreover there is a black market that has evolved around it. If objective of economics is to allocate resource, distribute output and maintaining well being properly, then, neither of these condition have been fulfilled by the impact of drug addiction nor it is ethically desired for a healthier society.
