a) y = f(x) = 2x -9

To find inverse plug x = y and y=x.

x = 2y -9

2y = x+9

y = (x+9)/2

So, f^-1(x) = (x+9)/2

b) y = f(x) = x^3 +7

To find inverse plug x = y and y=x.

x = y^3 +7

y^3 = x-7

y = (x - 7)^1/3

f^-1(x) = ( x-7)^1/3
