According to the studies, I had been found that mitochondria plays an important role in controlling the rate of glycolysis.. I also regulate the activity of certain glycolysis enzymes like phosphoglycerate kinase..

So, if there is any mutation in the mitochondrial genome by the pathogens I will lead to the dysfunction of mitochondria which will affect the rate of glycolysis controlled by it hence causing a serious problem in the body..

In case of pentos phosphate pathway I will not be affected as the substrate of this is Glicose-6-phosphate which is formed in the first step only hence can result in proper formation of the product formed from pentose phosphate pathway...!!!
