Calculate the power dissipated when 5.5V is applied across a resistor and 3mA flows through it.

Solution

Power is dissipated in resistor and is given as below

Given voltage across a resistor is V = 5.5 V;

Current flowing through it is I = 3 mA;

Power dissipated is given by P = V*I = 5.5 * 3 *10-3 = 16.5 mW.

Resistance value is given by R = V/I = 5.5 / ( 3*10-3 ) = 1833.333 ohm

Power dissipated in the resistor is given by

P = (V2 / R) = (I2 * R ) = ((5.5)2/1833.333) = ((3*10-3)*1833.333) = 16.5 mW

Calculate the power dissipated when 5.5V is applied across a resistor and 3mA flows through it.SolutionPower is dissipated in resistor and is given as below Giv
