2a- Define latent period. (b) What happens inside skeletal muscle cells during the latent period? (from muscle impulse/AP cross-bridge formation; include the proteins, channels, & ions involved) and (c) How is ATP used during the contraction and relaxation phases?

Solution

Latent period defined as the delay between the recipient of stimulus by the sensory nerve and the response to it.

C) at first,ATP bind to myosin, breaking down an actin -myosin bridge and causing muscle contraction to stop. The free myosin and its bridge then move to a point where there can attach actin.at that point, ATP is broken down into ADP and Pi, generating energy, explains muscle physiology,ADPand Pi and the myosin bridge then attach the acting causing muscle contraction. During the muscle relaxation phase, actin displaces ADP and Pi and then reconstituted into ATP by the body, and the process starts again.
