In your own words and without researching an answer, how do you differentiate between an expression and an equation? Provide an example of each where the two are either related to or similar to each other.

Solution

ANSWER:-

Equation :- An equation is a mathematical sentence that says two things are equal.

Expression :- An expression is a mathematical phrase that stands for a single number.

Equation and expression are closely related to each other,

For example consider 5x+5 = 10 is an equation says that if we multiply x by 5 and add 5 we get 5.

similarly 5x+5 is an expression whose value is 5 times the value x plus 1, whatever the value of x might be.

An equation consists of two expressions connected by equals sign, it can be a true or false only. But an expression is never true or false, it has a numerical value only.

The result of an equation gives us solution but the expression gives simplification only.
