Name the hormone, produced by the liver and kidneys, whose function is to stimulate production of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. When megakaryocytes fragment what do they produce?

The harmones produced by kidney is erythropoietin. Erythropoietin is produced by the peritubular capillary endothelial cells in response to hypoxia.

Erythropoetin acts on the bone marrow to stimulate erythropoiesis.

Insulin like Growth Factor- 1; Agiotensinogen; thrombopoietin; hepcidin; betatrophin.

2. Thrombopoietin or TPO;

In this the thrombopoetin consists of protien of 353 amino acids protein. It stimulate the precursors in the bone marrow to differentiate megakaryocytes. Megakaryocytes generate platelets, essential to blood clotting.The thrombopoietin is homologous to erythropoietin. The production of megakaryocytes and the platelets are under the homeostatic conditions.It works in circulating manner like. It circulate the platelets which are covered with receptors by TPO. So the megakaryocytes and their precursors and there are less megakaryocytes. Thromobopoietin plays an important role including megakaryocyte to form small proto-platelet. When the platelets counts become high the circulating TPO bounds to the platelets and when the platelets counts drop down more TPO becomes available to stimulate megakaryocytes to replenish the platelet supply. Therefore rising and dropping platelets concentration regulate the thrombopoietin level. Humans manufacture about 1011 platelets each day under normal conditions. The primary signal for megakaryocyte production is the thrombopoietin. When megakaryocytes fragments produces, then the fragments migrate out of the bone marrow explants and after incubation it becomes beaded form, consisting of two or more bead like platelets. This fragmentation appears and the platelet liberation does not occurs in sequential manner that is from the distal ends to megakaryocytes process.
