1. Find the following with the given vectors u = <3, 7> and v = <5,1>:

a1) Find 3u + 2v

b1) Find -½ u

Solution

We have given,

u = <3, 7> and

v = <5,1>

1)  3u + 2v = 3(<3, 7>) +2(<5,1>) = <-9, 21> + <10, 2> = <1, 23>

2) -½ u = ½ <-3, 7> = < -3/-2 , 7/-2> = < 3/2 , -7/2>
