Solution

let us say the speed of Alan is \'x\'

ben walks 0.8mph mush faster than Alan

so Ben walks with 0.8 mph + x mph

speed = distance /time

given distance = 9.2 miles and time =2hr

x +0.8 + x = 9.2 / 2

2x +0.8 = 4.6

2x = 3.8

x =1.9

so speed of Alan is 1.9 mph

and speed of Ben is 1.9 +0.8 = 2.7 mph
