In your own words, describe crashing, fast tracking, and scope reduction as means of schedule compression. When would each be appropriate? Which methods would you consider better first-choice methods by most project sponsors? Would any of these methods apply to Agile projects? How does Agile address schedule compression?

Scheduling compression technique is used in project scheduling when the actual output needs to be created at a faster rate than indicated in the original project, without changing the scope of the project.
Crashing is a technique used to identify the additional cost involved in minimizing the total duration of a project. Then, this cost is compared with the benefits of completing the project before the scheduled time duration.
Fast tracking technique includes the re-scheduling of various activities to carry different processes simultaneously without waiting for other processes to complete. This method can be utilized in the projects where activities can be overlapped.
Scope reduction technique also helps in schedule compression. In this technique, scope of a project is reduced to minimize the total time duration of a project.
Firs choice method for most project sponsors would be crashing. Although this technique would improve the total overall cost. But, it would reduce the overall risk associated with completion of the project involved with other techniques.
Agile project management refers to an iterative approach required for planning and guiding a project. In these projects each step needs to be reviewed. The mentioned techniques might not be affective in schedule compression in agile projects.
