Researchers wanted to determine if carpeted rooms contained
Researchers wanted to determine if carpeted rooms contained more bacteria than uncarpeted rooms. To determine the amount of bacteria in a room, they pumped the air from the room over a Petri dish at a rate of 1 cubic foot per minute for eight carpeted and eight uncarpeted rooms. Colonies of bacteria were allowed to form in the 16 Petri dishes. The results, measured in bacteria/cubic foot, are in the table below and normality was verified so the small sample is okay. State the hypotheses. Determine the p-value. What is the conclusion in terms of H_0 if we use a 5% level of significance?
