14 Identify 3 factors othe whether or not a climbing lane is
Solution
The main important factors which govern whether a climbing lane is required or not are
1.traffic volume (number of vehicles).
In climbing section traffic volume has a certain significance. When traffic volume is low traffic density is low and when the traffic volume is high so is the traffic density high creating traffic jams on the climbing section.
2.proportion of trucks.
It has greater impact on the climbing section. When the proportion of trucks is low then it will result in less lane changing behaviour and stable speed. If the proportion of trucks is more lane changing behaviour is high and speed is drastically decreased resulting in congestion.
3.vehicle speed.
It is mainly expressed in the dispersion of the speed. Greater the variation of the speed highly unstable is the traffic flow creating disorder and less traffic capacity.
