An aminoacyl t-RNA synthetase is an enzyme that catalyse the aminoacylation of t-RNA by their cognate amino acid.

In this case cognate amino acid is tryptophan(trp), so here aminoacyl tRNA synthetase is tryptophanyl-tRNA synthatase.

It functions according the following reaction-

ATP + L-tryptophan + tRNA(trp) = AMP + di phosphate + L-tryptophyl-tRNA(trp)
