Draw a Label and write a Labeling SOP Submit on a separate i
Draw a \"Label\" and write a \"Labeling SOP\". Submit on a separate (independent work). REMEMBER: This is a biotechnology lab; you will solutions that you will use in this be making the course. ALL incorrectly labeled solutions made and will be discarded. Whenever you are writing an SOP, try to be as clear and concise as possible. Things to be included: Goal/purpose/scope of this SOP use/Responsibility, Model numbers, areas where it will be used Make sure to include appropriate instructions from start to finish, how to set up clean-up, instruments am precautions etc. This exercise does not need to go in your notebook. You type it if you prefer and submit it as an exercise on a sheet of paper. It is a very simple SOP so it need not be very long. Write/draw a label for (see #4 below) A 0.5 M solution of EDTA at pH 8.2 prepared by you, today. The solution is stable for l year at room temperature and was sterilized by autoclave. Write a general labeling SOP using the guidelines given below Purpose/scope: What is the goal of this SOP? In what areas will it be used? Use Responsibility: Who is going to use it? Materials (What supplies do you need? Things you must include on your label: Your initials -circle your initials, Course Contents composition and concentration including pH Expiration date-longest date is last day of lab for the given semester Storage Conditions Sterility Use the following questions about the labeling procedure to help you write the SOP What pieces of information must be included on all labels in the Biotech program? Before labeling what should the condition of the container be? Why is a \"tab\" made with tape labels? What conditions will cause the \"permanent\" ink label to become illegible or erased?
Solution
What you will need : EDTA , distilled water, sodim hydroxide pellets, balance, magnetic stirrer, autuclave, pH meter
.Preparation of 0.5M EDTA buffer pH 8.2 will be made by the following steps -Add: 186.1 g of disodium EDTA (Na2EDTA) 800 mL of dH2O. Adjust the pH to 8.2 with NaOH (~50 ml of NaOH).Volume is adjusted to 1 L with dH2O. Stirred vigorously on a magnetic stirrer. Buffer sterilized by autoclaving and stored at room temperature .It should be noted that disodium salt of EDTA will not dissolve until the pH of the solution is adjusted to 8.2 by the addition of NaOH.
